The backdrop of Schwerin‘s fairytale castle attracts thousands of visitors from all over Germany and abroad to the Schwerin Castle Festival every year. Every year, tens of thousands of guests are captivated by the Mecklenburg State Theatre‘s summer productions in the Old Garden, one of the most beautiful historic squares in northern Germany. The Pirate Open Air in Grevesmühlen has taken place from the end of June to the beginning of September since 2005. It is one of the most successful open-air theatres in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. The auditorium has a capacity of 1,500 seats. Daredevil fencing fights, special effects, breathtaking stunts, real muzzleloading weapons and cannons, more than 60 actors and a stage set that changes every year are the hallmarks of the elaborate productions.
