In five regional vocational training centres in Schwerin, Wismar and Parchim and their branch offices in Zierow, Ludwigslust and Hagenow, growing and newly settled companies develop their own junior staff. In addition, qualification is possible through educational partners in the region in conjunction with the employment agency. A well-developed network of general education schools in private or state sponsorship forms the basis for an education–oriented environment for employees and their children. All-day programmes contribute to the care of children, and daycare facilities have an above-average childcare ratio. After a sharp decline, the number of school graduates has been steadily increasing again since 2011. The number of new training contracts is stable. In 2022, the CCI will have more than 3,000 apprenticeships in its companies. At the same time, training is becoming increasingly international and companies in the region stand out for their welcoming culture: Trainees from more than 35 countries are currently learning a trade in West Mecklenburg.
